This was our second visit to this establishment. My husband is a huge prime rib fan, so we have gone both times on Saturday night prime rib buffet night. We had no complaints during our first visit, but tonight we we're less than thrilled. We we're greeted by the host that seemed perplexed that we didn't have reservations. So he told us to go wait in the hall until they could find a table for us. (there we're 5 empty tables in the main dining area). So we are standing there in the hall and an older couple walked to the desk. He asked them if they had reservations and they did not. He seated them in one of the empty tables I mentioned. What the hell? There was 2 of them & there was 2 of us. Why we're we made to wait for a table and they we're not? We ended up seated in the very back passed the bar. The guy cutting the prime rib didn't seen to know the difference between medium well and medium rare and where it should be cut for each. Thankfully the food is decent. During the rest of our meal, we were never asked if we wanted refills on our drinks and we waited at least fifteen minutes for our check. When the host brought it to us... He finally asked if we wanted drink refills. Really? We had been done eating for almost 20 minutes and he was just now asking? I am sure we will go back again, but I hope the service is better than tonight.

Good burgers, but it's it's ridiculous they are open for a THREE AND A HALF HOUR period where they do not serve food. Who stops serving food at 9:30 and then closes at 1?

I went here recently with a large group. You'd think the bartender and staff would be thrilled to have some big business on a Friday night but we got nothing but attitude from Mike, the only bartender that night. Drinks were served out of served out of plastic solo cups. When I requested that my beer be served in the Stella Chalis, he got so angry! When I finally got my beer, I noticed the glass was dirty. Ew! Never going back here. So nasty

Surprise, surprise. Improvements all around for my second go at Alberto's. I was in the restaurant for a meeting, and so I picked up a Farmhouse Burger while we chatted. The burger is eggs (your way), bacon and beef on a bun, along with fries or whatever other side you want. And it was good! The ground beef was well seasoned, moist and cooked right (or close enough to medium that I didn't notice any significant deviations). I liked the egg, and I really liked the paper-thin and crisp bacon that came on top of the burger. Now I'm interested in coming back. The fries were merely OK, but at least they were seasoned. For starters, I don't think they were fried... they seemed baked and didn't have any sort of crispy texture. Service was questionable, at times. I didn't have a problem, but my dining partner did. Pro tip: Repeat the order back to the customer before taking it to the kitchen. At about $10 / person for lunch all said and done, this was good food at a good price.

Only speaking about the bar section. Didn't get any food. Laura my bartender was super friendly and was always on top of my drinks! She was attentive and made sure I was taken care of. People here, including staff seem to know and like her quite a bit. I hope I get to come back soon and enjoy the cozy atmosphere! Thanks Laura!!!!

I've eaten at this restaurant twice both times the meal was either overcooked, or just didn't taste very good. The steak I ordered tonight was seared in the outside and raw inside. The mashed potatoes tasted like urine.

I am very hard to impress....because I work in a restaurant that is extremely focused on good taste and great service..Once Again I am Super Impressed with the food, the flavor and the service at Alberto's Inside the Holiday Inn in Carol Stream. It is NOT like a typical chain restaurant, or hotel bar. The food is excellent , the staff is one that I would like to have for MY restaurant, and the specials and choices are all straight out of a Food Network kitchen. You draw the lucky card if you get DAWN as your server. She is the Sweetest, most attentive server you could ask for...ACTUALLY do that....ask for her! You won/t be sorry..Christian, the Manager is above and beyond your typical front of the house manager....His passion for every detail is amazing, and his skill in the dining room is well appreciated. Holiday Inn is very lucky to have these two people in their employ....as I said, I would love to have them on my staff,,but they are dedicated to their job and their location....I would tell you to go on Wednesday nights for the very best wings but I am afraid there would be none left for me when I get there..Did I mention they are only 50 cents each on Wednesdays! We are told there is a lot of fun after dinner in the bar with Salsa Dancing on Wed. Nights...but will try it next time!!!!! You will find a special every night of the week,,,and a staff that will keep you coming back!!!!!!! Enjoy.

My mom and I attended their Mother's Day Brunch this past Sunday. The service was over-the-top, but not in a great way. We had 3 different servers and one of them was at our table every 5 minutes. It was a little annoying at one point, because my conversation with my mother was interrupted. They were so into clearing the plates off the table that if we had three pieces of food left, they would be at the table trying to remove it. The sad thing was, the service was the best part of the brunch. The food was less than acceptable, especially for a special occasion. We had the 1:30pm reservation and I was nervous to do such a late seating because of the food sitting around...but then I thought, no way! They will replenish food as needed and keep it fresh for the later seating. Wrong! The Eggs Benedict had a nice flavor, with their pesto hollandaise. However, I couldn't cut through the rock hard English muffin. The same went for the mini waffles...hard as rocks. The $5 mimosa was a mini version of the real thing and the bartender did not know what a Bellini was upon request. Sad! The shrimp and mussels were swimming in water, instead of sitting on ice. My fear was ingesting bacteria if I ate them, so I passed. We will not attend this brunch again.

Restaurant Review Sunday lunch buffet. I didn't know what to expect after coming across this restaurant on my quest for food this past weekend. It is a Italian themed restaurant adjoining Holiday Inn out in the suburbs. The price had jumped up from 12.95 to 14.95 with a touted new menu. We showed up for brunch around 1130 expecting a large Sunday crowd, however there was only a couple tables seated. I was surprised by the small size of the buffet area. The menu included a salad bar, shrimp cocktail (small shrimp), breakfast items (french toast, pancake, tater tots, pigs in a blanket, bacon, canadian bacon, toast, 2 types of hot pasta (mac/cheese and bowtie tomato pasta). The other highlight was the prime rib which was top notch with horseradish sauce. Adjoining the carving station was an omelet station. There were also 4 types of cold pasta salads which were nice and cool. Finally dessert entailed a couple of mini petite dessert (brownie, apple tart) and fresh fruit. So the highlight would have to be the prime rib which was cooked perfectly. The only downside is that it was lukewarm and kept in a container instead of under the heat lamp. The breakfast items unfortunately were lackluster and forgettable. The main problem is the dishes were heated in buffet style containers with a covering which made the food damp. The pastas were a big two thumbs down overcooked and lacking flavor. Tater tots, pigs in a blanket, and the dessert were perfect. Pro- excellent prime rib lunch, good service (waiters were very attentive filling water and checking in on how we were doing) Con- the rest of the menu was disappointing, pricey at 14.95, very limited italian food items Hidden deal- Restaurant.com offers gift certificate with savings on your meal. Not sure if you can use this for brunch. United dining miles available.

This place is amazing for a hotel resturant! I have been there many times now and the food gets better every time. Their burgers are totally amazing and the pizza is pretty good too. All the items I have had on their menu are great! The service fluctuates from visit to visit. It does not seem to matter whether they are busy or not. But overall I love this place and will always be a fan and keep going back for more!

Alberto's lunch buffet during the week is the best lunch buffet around! There is so much amazing food, I am glad I am pregnant right now, and eating for two ;) The buffet choices change daily, but there is always a wonderful fruit and salad bar. There is also always pizza as well! The best part, in addition to the salad, fruit, pizza, and buffet line filled with wonderful options, there is a make-your-own-pasta bar included!!! The chef will make it to order right in front of you, and it is amazingly good. As if the lunch buffet wasn't good enough, the pasta par pushes it over the limit for me. Go during the week and check out the lunch buffet! It won't disappoint!

I've been to this restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. The breakfast was inexpensive but the quality of the food itself was on-par with some of the better breakfast restaurants in the area, very impressive. As for the dinner, they always have some kind of specials going on ($0.50 wings, $5 wraps, etc) all of which are delicious but none are comparable to the Prime rib sandwich which is absolutely delicious. Overall I've had great service here, the food is of great quality and it won't completely empty your wallet either! Oh and by the way, their breakfast buffets on Saturdays and Sunday's are awesome, prime rib, omelette station, fresh fruit, juices and many other options as well.

The service was alright and the food was definitely good for the price. The on tap beer was quite expensive however which jacked up the price of my meal significantly. I used a free appetizer coupon too through yelp which the restaurant didn't recognize at first, but they still honored it.

Eww. Terrible food for dinner and had to send multiple meals back multiple times. Rare is not that hard to accomplish. Also, didn't get half of what I ordered.

Let's just put it this way: I can't cook and I would have made a better pasta at home. We had the shrimp and angel hair pasta and the pasta Amatriciana. Both were awful: overcooked, very bland. The tiramisu was so-so. There is no drink menu. We ordered a margarita and they brought us a lemonade. The menu was a piece of computer paper. The AC vents were leaking on the tables. Left us nothing to go back for...very disappointing.

Went here one day after work for dinner with the family. Heard of it thru Groupon. It was good. Nothing over the top. Service was good, our waitress was very friendly. Nice environment, both restaurant side and bar side... Nothing overly great or overly bad to say. it was good, but not good enough for me to be dying to go back.

Can't believe I haven't written a review for this place yet!! Guess I must have done it in my head, not in reality. Anyhow, we've been to this place several times--first time was thanks to a restaurant.com certificate, and have used some in subsequent visits as well. I had my doubts about it, being part of a hotel, but no need for that--it's wonderful. We have ordered other dishes, but always return to our faves: me=bucatini amitriciana (probably mispelled it!), hubby=porcini risotto. The amount of porcini mushrooms is incredible in that dish!! The dish includes either a trip to the salad bar or a soup; we always opt for the soup, and we aren't even major soup lovers, but have never been disappointed in choosing such--it's a delightful entry into the meal! The bread served with the meal has a pizza/foccacia twist about it--could eat too much of it very easily! We will be back again and again :)

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
